Education Officer (Sector Coordination and SWAp)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Education Officer to lead sector coordination and the SWAp (Sector-Wide Approach) for Nepal’s education sector. Based in Kathmandu, the officer will act as the Development Partner focal point, working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Embassy of Finland to guide the transition of the School Education Sector Plan (2027‑2032).

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate UNICEF core‑team and focal‑point activities with government, Joint Financing Partners, LEDPG/LEG members and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and follow‑up on calendars, agendas, briefs, speaking points, meeting records, decision logs and action trackers.
• Support the development and implementation of the second SESP programme (2027‑2032), including evidence review, consultations, drafting and decision‑making processes.
• Promote foundational learning, digitalisation, inclusive education and federal service delivery within sector‑wide arrangements.
• Maintain day‑to‑day liaison with the Ministry of Education’s DACS and the Embassy of Finland.

Required profile

• Nepalese national with proven experience in education sector coordination or related development work.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s education policy framework, sector‑wide approaches and multi‑partner coordination.
• Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
