Finance Assistant Consultant – Emergency Response (6‑month consultancy)

About the role

Project HOPE is seeking a Finance Assistant Consultant to support its emergency response operations in Nepal. The consultant will handle day‑to‑day financial administration, ensure accurate recording of transactions, and maintain compliance with donor and Nepalese statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain financial transactions in the accounting system, review documentation for completeness and approvals.
• Process vendor and consultant payments, advances, petty‑cash administration, and support month‑end close activities.
• Prepare weekly cash reports, monthly cash requests, and assist with internal and donor financial reporting.
• Coordinate with the Finance Officer, program teams, vendors, implementing partners and HQ Finance, providing regular updates on finance activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 1–3 years of finance or administrative support experience, preferably in NGOs or humanitarian settings in Nepal.
• Basic understanding of accounting, payment processing, petty‑cash management and Nepalese finance/tax regulations.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines in an emergency response environment.
• Fluency in Nepali and working proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with electronic financial or accounting systems; NetSuite knowledge is desirable.
