Early Learning Consultant (ECED & Grade 1 Transition) – Remote with Travel

About the role

UNICEF is seeking experienced consultants to design and test a Structured Pedagogy‑Informed Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) package and a Grade 1 transition package for Nepal. The role is remote, with occasional travel to Kathmandu and other project sites, and aims to improve the quality of early learning and school readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an integrated ECED curriculum package covering 192 days of structured daily activities.
• Design a Grade 1 transition package for at least the first 90 days of school, focusing on readiness.
• Create formative assessment tools, coaching guides, and resources for teachers, parents and caregivers.
• Collaborate with UNICEF staff, government officials and local stakeholders to ensure alignment with Nepal’s Integrated Curriculum and Early Learning and Development Standards.
• Pilot, test and refine the packages based on field feedback and evidence‑based practices.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Education, Early Childhood Development or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing curriculum, pedagogy or assessment tools for early childhood or primary education.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s ECED context, standards and school‑readiness priorities is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with ability to work independently and travel as required.
