Education Officer (Sector Coordination and SWAp)

About the role

UNICEF Nepal is seeking an Education Officer to lead sector coordination and the SWAp (Sector-Wide Approach) during a critical transition period. The role will support UNICEF’s Development Partner focal‑point responsibilities, working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Embassy of Finland.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate UNICEF’s engagement with government, joint financing partners, and the Local Education Development Partner Group.
• Maintain day‑to‑day liaison with the Ministry of Education’s DACS unit and the Embassy of Finland.
• Prepare and manage calendars, agendas, briefs, speaking points, meeting records, decision logs and action trackers.
• Support the development and implementation of the second School Education Sector Plan (2027‑2032), including evidence review, consultations and drafting.
• Promote foundational learning, digitalisation, inclusive education and federal service delivery within sector‑wide arrangements.
• Facilitate coordination among federal, provincial and local stakeholders to ensure alignment with UNICEF programme evidence.

Required profile

• Experience in education sector coordination or related development work.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s education system and government processes.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple partners, including ministries and international donors.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for preparing briefs and tracking decisions.
