Public Health Engineering (PHE) Coordinator

About the role

The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Coordinator will lead the technical coordination and implementation of water, sanitation, drainage and waste‑management interventions for Oxfam’s flash‑flood response in Rasuwa, Nepal. The role ensures that all infrastructure is designed, built and monitored to high technical standards while aligning with humanitarian standards and community needs.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee PHE interventions across multiple flood‑affected districts.
• Design, construct, rehabilitate and supervise water supply and sanitation systems.
• Develop Bills of Quantities, technical drawings, specifications and manage contractors.
• Support local partners and government agencies in delivering quality programmes.
• Integrate engineering work with public health promotion, protection, gender and MEAL approaches.
• Monitor and report on project performance, ensuring compliance with Oxfam policies and Sphere standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Water, Environmental, Public Health Engineering or Hydraulics.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in WASH/Public Health Engineering, preferably in humanitarian settings.
• Proven experience managing technical teams and multi‑site implementations.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English and a commitment to gender equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
