School Readiness Assessment Consultant (Remote, 15 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior consultant to provide technical back‑stopping for the Education Review Office’s school readiness assessment in Nepal. The assignment lasts 15 months and is fully remote, supporting the design, implementation and analysis of large‑scale early childhood assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Review and refine the assessment framework, tools and sampling design.
• Develop assessment protocols, manuals and training materials for assessors and supervisors.
• Conduct pilot testing, oversee data collection, ensure quality assurance and manage data.
• Perform data analysis, produce comprehensive reports and disseminate findings.
• Strengthen the capacity of ERO staff through coaching and technical guidance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Statistics, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in sampling, quantitative analysis and large‑scale education assessments.
• Proven track record in report writing with examples of published reports.
• Familiarity with early childhood or primary education, preferably within Nepal’s education system.
• Experience working with government agencies or UN organisations is an asset.

Required skills

• Advanced technical proficiency in R.
• Strong analytical, data management and data presentation capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and work independently under tight timelines.
