Senior Python Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to design, build and operate reliable backend services and APIs for our products. Based in Kathmandu, you will own features from requirements through production, improve existing systems and help raise engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Python backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Own features end‑to‑end: clarify requirements, propose solutions, implement, test, deploy and support them in production.
• Create robust data models, write efficient SQL queries, manage migrations and integrate third‑party services.
• Build asynchronous, scheduled or background processing using asyncio, Redis or job queues.
• Improve performance, observability, security and reliability of existing applications.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Diagnose production incidents and contribute to preventive measures.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, QA and DevOps teams and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily building Python backend applications.
• Strong expertise in Python, including async programming, typing, testing and application design.
• Proven experience with FastAPI or Django and ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy or Pydantic.
• Deep understanding of API design principles, authentication/authorization (OAuth/OIDC) and third‑party integrations.
• Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including schema design, query optimisation and migrations.
• Experience with Docker, Git‑based workflows, CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments.
