Account Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Account Officer to manage financial operations for our clean-energy infrastructure projects. The role involves maintaining accurate books, overseeing project billing, and ensuring compliance with Nepalese tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily books of accounts, cash books, bank books, vouchers and ledgers in line with NFRS.
• Prepare and verify contractor, subcontractor and supplier invoices and cross-check construction bills against BOQ quantities and approved rates.
• Assist in preparing interim payment certificates, running bills and milestone-based invoices.
• Track project expenditure against approved budgets and maintain records of advances, retention money and security deposits.
• Review labour payroll based on attendance, process vendor payments and verify purchase invoices, delivery notes and store records.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, cash-flow statements and monthly financial reports; maintain VAT, TDS and tax records.
• Identify cost overruns, unsupported expenses and billing discrepancies.
• Support external audits and coordinate with internal auditors, preparing account schedules and resolving observations.
• Collaborate with engineers, procurement teams, storekeepers, contractors and auditors to ensure seamless financial operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, solar, hydropower or infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on knowledge of construction billing, BOQ, measurement sheets and contractor payment cycles.
• Proficiency in Tally, Tigg or similar accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of Nepalese VAT, TDS and tax regulations.
