Android Engineer – Kotlin & Java (Remote Contractor)

About the role

As an Android Engineer (Kotlin/Java) you will work remotely on an hourly‑paid basis reviewing AI‑generated Android code, mobile architectures and technical explanations, and producing high‑quality reference implementations and step‑by‑step reasoning for complex engineering problems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content by creating detailed prompts across Android topics and writing reference answers.
• Optimize AI performance by evaluating, ranking and improving AI responses for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
• Ensure model integrity by testing AI outputs for inaccuracies or unsafe recommendations and validating reliability in real‑world Android use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience building production Android apps using Kotlin and preferably Java.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Kotlin (null‑safety, coroutines, flows, sealed types, generics) and strong Android fundamentals (app lifecycle, Activities/Fragments, permissions, background execution).
• Modern UI experience with Jetpack Compose and/or Views, understanding recomposition, state hoisting and UI performance.
• Concurrency expertise with coroutines, Flow, threading best practices, cancellation and race‑condition avoidance.
• Deep knowledge of architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) and dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger/Koin).
• Experience with networking and data layers (Retrofit, OkHttp, serialization, caching, offline strategies, Room/SQLite/DataStore).
• Testing and quality skills (JUnit, instrumentation tests, Compose UI tests/Espresso, mocking, CI/CD with Gradle and Play Console workflow).
• Security awareness (Keystore, EncryptedSharedPreferences, auth flows, certificate pinning, privacy permissions).
• Minimum C1 English proficiency for clear technical writing and following detailed English‑language guidelines.
