Aquaculture Grants Support Intern

About the role

The internship supports the USDA Food for Progress aquaculture modernization project in Nepal, providing field data collection, monitoring and reporting for in‑kind grants. Interns act as the daily liaison between grantees and the project team, gaining supervised, hands‑on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Record grantee information, file documentation, and capture GPS coordinates for each grant site.
• Attend equipment deliveries, monitor installation, verify specifications, and document handover with photos.
• Conduct scheduled monitoring visits, collect indicator data, and draft monthly progress reports.
• Observe technical practices at grant sites, note water‑quality parameters, and contribute to case studies.
• Serve as the day‑to‑day contact between grantees and the project team, forwarding communications and supporting stakeholder coordination.

Required profile

• Final‑year Bachelor’s, Master’s or recent graduate in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences or related field.
• Fluent in Nepali, able to draft reports in English.
• Willingness to travel regularly to assigned districts and be based there for the six‑month assignment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to record GPS coordinates and use basic data‑collection tools.
