Disaster Risk Management Consultant – 21.5 months, Kathmandu

About the role

UNICEF Nepal is looking for a Disaster Risk Management Consultant to provide technical and coordination support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and knowledge management of its DRR and emergency preparedness programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen coordination with federal, provincial and local government counterparts, including NDRRMA, MoHA and MoLMCAFAGA.
• Provide technical support for implementation, monitoring and reporting of EPR, DRR, SUPER and Anticipatory Action initiatives.
• Facilitate engagement with consortium partners, UN agencies, private sector, INGOs and civil society to promote integrated, multi‑sectoral approaches.
• Lead information management, monitoring and progress tracking, ensuring timely collection, analysis and reporting of results.
• Document and disseminate good practices, innovations and lessons learned from programme implementation.
• Support capacity strengthening of provincial and local governments and CSOs on emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in disaster risk management, focusing on urban preparedness and response.
• Proven experience coordinating with federal, provincial and local governments and multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Fluency in English and Nepali; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
• Strong communication, analytical and writing skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Database management and ICT skills.
