Group Legal Counsel (On‑Site Representative)

About the role

The Group Legal Counsel will act as the on‑site legal representative for the company and all its subsidiaries, handling the full lifecycle of legal cases from police reporting to court litigation and final disposition. The role ensures regulatory compliance, mitigates legal risk and provides strategic advice to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary police liaison, register FIRs and manage all law‑enforcement interactions for every business unit.
• Represent the company and its subsidiaries in District, Appellate and other courts, maintaining a comprehensive case calendar to avoid procedural defaults.
• Draft, review and file legal documents such as plaints, written statements, petitions, rejoinders and powers of attorney.
• Conduct thorough investigations, manage evidence and coordinate witnesses for court appearances.
• Provide proactive legal risk assessments, advise on contracts, policy development and regulatory compliance, and oversee contract review across all divisions.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree (LL.M. preferred) and enrollment as an advocate with the Nepal Bar Council.
• 5–8 years of post‑qualification experience in litigation, corporate law and multi‑divisional legal management, preferably in transport or logistics.
• Fluency in Nepali and English (written and spoken).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Nepali procedural law (Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code) and evidence law.
• Proven ability to draft high‑quality legal documents, including plaints, petitions, statements and powers of attorney.
• Experience in contract review, policy development and regulatory compliance.
