International Trade & Compliance Manager

About the role

TALIA is looking for an experienced International Trade & Compliance Manager to lead cross‑border trade operations between China and Nepal. The role covers the full trade cycle from product feasibility and regulatory assessment to logistics, customs clearance, delivery and post‑transaction risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end import and export projects, including quotations, contracts, payments, documentation, transportation, customs clearance and final delivery.
• Conduct feasibility and compliance assessments for new products, covering import restrictions, licences, HS‑Code classification, customs duties, VAT and required certificates.
• Oversee agricultural and food trade projects, handling phytosanitary certificates, quality inspections, packaging, labeling and storage requirements.
• Prepare and verify all trade documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and customs declarations.
• Coordinate payment arrangements, including Telegraphic Transfers (TT) and Letters of Credit (LC), and work closely with banks and finance teams.
• Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers and government agencies to ensure smooth logistics and timely clearance.
• Calculate landed costs and identify risks related to payment, documentation, customs, tax, product quality and transportation.
• Develop and maintain internal SOPs and traceable records for each transaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Law or related field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on international trade experience, preferably with agricultural or food products.
• Strong knowledge of Nepalese import regulations and Chinese export procedures.
• Proven ability to manage trade documentation, customs clearance and trade finance instruments.
• Fluent English; Chinese language skills are a significant advantage.
