Laboratory Technician

About the role

MedEx Nepal is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Laboratory Technician in Kathmandu. The technician will conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests, prepare and process samples, and operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols. The role supports physicians and clinical staff with accurate test data, manages inventory, and contributes to continuous improvement of lab processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and accurately document results.
• Prepare, process, and handle samples following standard operating procedures.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
• Troubleshoot test discrepancies and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Support physicians and clinical teams by providing timely and reliable test data.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory workflows.

Required profile

• Strong laboratory skills with relevant experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and infection‑prevention practices.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and adherence to SOPs.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment and communicate clearly with healthcare professionals.
