Lead QA Engineer – Own Quality Strategy & Automation

About the role

We’re looking for a Lead QA Engineer to take full ownership of quality across our engineering team. This hands‑on leadership role involves setting strategy, building the automation foundation, and mentoring a small existing QA team.

Key responsibilities

• Define test strategy: decide what gets tested, how, and prioritize across multiple projects based on risk and business impact.
• Design and build a test automation framework from the ground up, starting with critical workflows.
• Establish release quality gates and define what “ready to ship” means.
• Create a consistent bug‑triage and severity/priority framework to avoid reactive firefighting.
• Own the feedback loop from support tickets to QA, turning recurring issues into structured, trackable bugs.
• Mentor and grow the existing QA team, providing technical guidance and career development.
• Partner cross‑functionally with developers, product, operations, merchants, finance, and riders to understand real‑world usage patterns.

Required profile

• 6+ years of QA experience, with at least 1‑2 years owning strategy or process.
• Hands‑on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch (explain tools, rationale, and challenges).
• Comfortable defining processes and making decisions; a build‑it, not maintain‑it role.
• Experience with products that have real operational stakes (marketplace, logistics, fintech) is a strong plus.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and elevate team members.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent practical depth is a plus, not required.
