Logistics Officer – Procurement Support

About the role

The Logistics Officer will support the IFRC Country Delegation in Nepal by managing procurement activities for the Flash Flood 2026 response and ongoing humanitarian operations. The role works closely with the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) and other partners to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and compliant acquisition of goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and organise country‑level procurement in full compliance with IFRC procedures and best practices.
• Guide procurement colleagues, maintain audit‑trail records, and ensure adherence to the IFRC Procurement Manual.
• Conduct local procurement, supply‑chain management, forecasting and detailed mapping of procurement needs.
• Obtain a minimum of three quotations, prepare comparative bid analyses, and present recommendations to the Committee on Contracts.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database, assess new suppliers, and monitor supplier performance.
• Ensure quality control checks for all procured items, verifying specifications, inspection certificates and fitness for purpose.
• Provide regular procurement progress updates, monthly reports to Global Humanitarian Service and Supply Chain Management, and narrative/financial reports for donors.
• Apply anti‑corruption risk mitigation measures in all procurement transactions and be available for emergency duties as required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with NRCS and other IFRC partners.
• Strong knowledge of IFRC procurement procedures, local market conditions and supplier management.
• Experience in preparing procurement documentation, bid analyses and contract recommendations.
• Capacity to supervise, monitor and review procurement processes under IFRC budgets.
