Mid-Level Client Accountant (Trading Business)

About the role

Shankar Associates, Chartered Accountants (SACA) is seeking a dynamic and skilled Client Accountant to join its Audit, Tax and Consulting wing in Kathmandu, Nepal. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting, taxation, import‑related transactions and financial reporting for trading business clients.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, record and reconcile financial transactions, and ensure proper accounting for imports and inventory purchases.
• Prepare periodic financial reports and management information as required.
• Prepare and file VAT, TDS and other tax returns within statutory deadlines, coordinating with authorities when necessary.
• Manage import accounting, handle TT and LC transactions, monitor foreign‑exchange gains/losses, and liaise with banks and suppliers.
• Perform vendor and supplier reconciliations, invoice and payment reconciliations, and bank reconciliations, investigating any discrepancies.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel for data analysis, prepare schedules, financial summaries and ad‑hoc reports, ensuring data integrity across systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field; professional qualifications (CA, ACCA, CPA) are a plus.
• Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a trading business environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Practical experience in VAT and TDS filing procedures.
• Understanding of import accounting, TT and LC transactions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data handling.
• Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.
