Provincial Coordinator – Sudurpashchim Province

About the role

The Provincial Coordinator will be the primary focal point for FAO projects in Sudurpashchim Province, ensuring effective planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting in close collaboration with provincial authorities, partners and FAO Nepal.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate provincial‑level planning and implementation of ReFAME activities and related FAO projects.
• Support the Project Management Unit in execution of activities, including finalising letters of agreement and contracts.
• Conduct regular field monitoring visits, address implementation bottlenecks and ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with provincial ministries, local governments, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for operational partners, government staff and community institutions.
• Develop concept notes and detailed budget estimates integrating gender, social inclusion and climate‑resilience considerations.
• Represent FAO Nepal at provincial and local coordination meetings, workshops and technical forums.
• Apply accountability and quality‑assurance mechanisms, organise review meetings and prepare progress reports documenting lessons learned.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in agricultural science, international development, natural resource management, climate change or a related field.
• At least five years of progressive experience in implementation, coordination and management of agriculture, agrifood systems, rural development, climate resilience or natural resource management programmes.
• Working knowledge of English (level C) and eligibility to work in Nepal.

Required skills

• Experience coordinating provincial‑level projects and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to prepare and monitor work plans, budgets, procurement inputs and progress reports.
• Capacity to organise and facilitate trainings, workshops and technical coordination forums.
• Strong monitoring, documentation and reporting skills.
