Senior Chemist

About the role

The Senior Chemist leads laboratory operations, product formulation and quality testing to ensure that all products meet regulatory, customer and performance standards. This role drives product development from concept through commercial production while supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, improve and optimise product formulations; conduct lab trials, pilot batches and validation activities.
• Perform chemical, physical and performance testing on raw materials, in‑process samples and finished goods; review test reports and authorise product releases.
• Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshoot issues and recommend corrective actions to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Evaluate new raw materials and suppliers through compatibility, stability and performance studies.
• Prepare and maintain SOPs, COAs, laboratory records and ensure compliance with ISO standards and safety regulations.
• Lead research on new technologies, raw materials and industry trends; implement continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Supervise laboratory personnel, train junior chemists and manage inventory of chemicals and consumables.

Required profile

• University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Several years of experience in a manufacturing or R&D laboratory environment.
• Proven ability to lead product development projects and support scale‑up activities.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in investigating non‑conforming products and driving CAPA.
