Senior Safety Officer – Manufacturing Plant

About the role

The Senior Safety Officer will lead the creation and maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment across the manufacturing plant, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across production, maintenance, warehouse and other plant areas.
• Monitor machine and process safety, including guarding, safety interlocks, emergency stops, and electrical safety.
• Implement and oversee LOTO and Permit‑to‑Work systems for high‑risk activities such as hot work, work at height, confined space and electrical work.
• Manage workplace incidents and near‑misses, conduct root‑cause investigations and track corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency preparedness, fire safety, and coordinate evacuation and fire drills.
• Monitor occupational health risks (noise, heat, dust, fumes, chemicals, vibration, ergonomics) and coordinate health surveillance.
• Manage PPE programs and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and relevant training.
• Ensure contractor and visitor safety through inductions, permits and monitoring of high‑risk activities.
• Maintain OHS records, support ISO 45001 compliance and coordinate internal and external safety audits.
• Report safety performance through OHS dashboards and recommend improvements to strengthen safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 4‑5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety/EHS, including at least 2 years in a Nepali manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Preferred experience in cable/conductor, electrical equipment, metal, steel, engineering, automotive, chemical or other machinery‑intensive manufacturing sectors.
