Software Engineer - Applied AI

About the role

Niural is seeking a Software Engineer specialized in Applied AI to strengthen the intelligence layer of its global payroll and compliance platform. You will work on EMMA, the company’s AI orchestration system, delivering production‑grade LLM features that directly impact money movement and statutory filings.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production LLM components such as agent workflows, tool/function calling, MCP servers, and retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines.
• Develop retrieval systems over statutory guidance, tax authority publications, contracts, and employee handbooks, handling chunking, embedding selection, hybrid search, reranking, and quality monitoring.
• Create structured extraction pipelines for payroll and compliance documents (paystubs, filings, PDFs) with schema enforcement, validation, and repair loops.
• Define and maintain evaluation infrastructure, including golden datasets, regression suites in CI, LLM‑as‑judge calibration, and metrics for accuracy and hallucination.
• Optimize latency and cost through model routing, prompt/semantic caching, batching, and context‑window budgeting.
• Implement safety and correctness controls such as PII detection and redaction.

Required profile

• Strong Python programming skills with hands‑on production experience in LLM‑based systems.
• Experience treating model behavior as an engineering problem, measuring performance before release, and owning features end‑to‑end.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving, ambitious team.
