Abacus Instructor

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Abacus Instructor to deliver structured mental‑math and abacus training to students from Grade 1 through Grade 10. The role involves guiding learners from basic bead manipulation to high‑speed mental calculation using the soroban.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interactive, age‑appropriate abacus and mental arithmetic sessions for Grades 1–10, adjusting teaching speed to match developmental levels.
• Implement and adapt progressive lesson plans covering bead mechanics, direct/indirect addition, complementary numbers, subtraction, multiplication, division, and visualization (Anzan).
• Evaluate student performance regularly through speed tests and accuracy checks; maintain detailed progress records for each student.
• Utilize gamified exercises, flashcard drills, and interactive challenges to build speed, focus, and numerical confidence.
• Provide constructive feedback to parents during periodic updates and parent‑teacher meetings.
• Train eligible upper‑grade students for school‑level, national, or international mental‑math competitions.

Required profile

• Strong foundational knowledge of soroban/abacus techniques.
• Experience teaching children across Grades 1‑10.
• Engaging teaching style with the ability to adjust pace to developmental levels.
• Proven ability to prepare students for mental‑math competitions.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with parents and school staff.
