Education Officer (Sector Coordination and SWAp)

About the role

UNICEF Nepal’s Education Section is seeking an Education Officer to support the transition of the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) 2022‑2032 into its next five‑year programme (2027‑2032). The role will act as a focal point for development partner coordination, working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Embassy of Finland.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate UNICEF’s engagement with the Government, Joint Financing Partners, and the Local Education Development Partner Group (LEDPG).
• Maintain day‑to‑day liaison with MoES DACS and the Embassy of Finland, preparing calendars, agendas, briefs, and meeting records.
• Support the development and implementation of the second SESP programme (2027‑2032), including evidence review, consultations, and drafting of decision calendars.
• Promote foundational learning, digitalisation, and inclusive education within federal, provincial and local contexts.
• Facilitate sector‑wide dialogue, ensuring alignment of UNICEF programme evidence with sector priorities.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in education sector coordination and programme planning.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s education system, sector‑wide approaches and financing mechanisms.
• Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills for briefs, agendas and decision logs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, development partners and internal UNICEF teams.
