Education Officer (Sector Coordination and SWAp)

About the role

UNICEF Nepal is seeking an Education Officer to lead sector coordination and support the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) transition. The role will act as the Development Partner focal point, working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Embassy of Finland to align UNICEF’s programme with government priorities and joint financing arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate UNICEF’s core‑team and focal‑point activities with the Government, Joint Financing Partners, LEDPG/LEG members and other stakeholders.
• Maintain day‑to‑day liaison with the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) DACS and the Embassy of Finland, preparing calendars, agendas, briefs, speaking points, meeting records, decision logs and action trackers.
• Support the development of the second SESP programme (2027‑2032) by organising evidence reviews, consultations, drafting inputs and facilitating federal, provincial and local consultations.
• Assist the preparation of the successor Joint Financing Arrangement, organising UNICEF and partner contributions and ensuring timely follow‑up.
• Provide analysis and representation of sector‑wide issues, linking field evidence with programme planning and reporting.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in education sector coordination, preferably within a government or development partner context.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s education system, sector‑wide approaches and multi‑partner financing mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills, with ability to prepare meeting materials, action trackers and decision logs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities to work with ministries, donors and UNICEF teams.
