General Manager – Transmission Line

About the role

The General Manager – Transmission Line will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of high‑voltage transmission projects, from concept through commissioning and hand‑over. This senior position provides strategic, technical, commercial and operational leadership to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget execution while complying with all applicable standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and operationalise the Transmission Line division, defining strategy, structure and performance culture.
• Lead project development, route studies, feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and final hand‑over.
• Provide overall technical leadership for tower, foundation, conductor, OPGW, insulation, earthing, protection and SCADA systems.
• Manage statutory approvals, right‑of‑way acquisition, land negotiations and stakeholder relations.
• Oversee EPC and consultancy contracts, commercial negotiations, risk registers, CAPEX budgeting and cost‑control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil or related engineering; professional registration required.
• 7–10 years of progressive senior leadership experience on 132 kV or higher greenfield transmission projects.
• Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure within scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience working with utilities, regulators, government authorities and multidisciplinary teams.

• High‑voltage transmission line design (132 kV/220 kV/400 kV) and route optimisation.
• Tower structural and foundation engineering.
• Conductor, OPGW and insulation selection.
• SCADA integration and grid‑code compliance (IEC/IEEE standards).
• EPC/FIDIC contract management and commercial negotiation.
• Risk management, CAPEX budgeting and cost control.
