Laboratory Technologist

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to provide technical support for Migration Health Assessments and related programmes in Kathmandu, Nepal. Working under the Chief Migration Health Officer and the Senior Laboratory Technologist, you will contribute to high‑quality laboratory services that safeguard the health of migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑examination, examination, and post‑examination laboratory procedures using standard equipment.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the laboratory quality management system.
• Act as focal point for one or more Quality System Essentials as assigned.
• Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, accurate results.
• Adhere to biosafety measures and maintain a safe working environment.
• Operate assigned workstations efficiently to deliver timely results.
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities and document outcomes.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and ensure proper functioning of laboratory instruments.
• Manage laboratory stock, monitoring consumables and equipment availability.

Required profile

• Relevant laboratory qualification or equivalent experience.
• Ability to follow detailed SOPs and maintain rigorous quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to biosafety.
• Capacity to work collaboratively within a multicultural team.
