National Early Learning Consultant – ECED & Grade 1 Transition (Remote, Travel)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking experienced consultants to design, develop, test and refine a Structured Pedagogy‑Informed ECED Package and a Grade 1 Transition Package aligned with Nepal’s Integrated Curriculum and Early Learning and Development Standards. The work will support improved quality of early childhood education and smoother transitions to primary school.

Key responsibilities

• Develop structured daily activity plans (192 days for ECED and at least the first 90 days for Grade 1) and accompanying formative assessment tools.
• Create coaching guidance, school‑readiness resources, parent‑caregiver engagement materials and practical implementation guidance for teachers, schools and local governments.
• Test and refine materials, tools and implementation approaches based on emerging evidence and stakeholder feedback.
• Ensure the packages are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, scalable, affordable and adaptable to diverse contexts across Nepal.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Teacher Education or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in early childhood education, curriculum development, teacher professional development or school‑readiness programmes.
• Proven experience developing teaching‑learning materials, teacher guidebooks or curriculum resources for ECED and early primary education.
• Excellent command of Nepali and English, with demonstrated ability to write in Nepali.
