Platform Engineering Internship

About the role

As a Platform Engineering Intern you will work hands‑on with real distributed systems and live Kubernetes clusters. You will contribute to a high‑security, multi‑tenant platform that runs workloads in isolated gVisor and Kata Container sandboxes across a multi‑region environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in modernising platform scripts into declarative Kubernetes controllers, custom resources and Helm charts.
• Maintain and test Open Cluster Management hub‑to‑spoke workload distribution, including ManifestWork and ManagedCluster lifecycle.
• Monitor CloudNativePG streaming replication, WAL timelines and schema consistency, and implement declarative jobs for delta synchronisation.
• Configure, test and optimise the Envoy active‑passive proxy running on a WireGuard overlay mesh.
• Write automated chaos‑engine tests that simulate control‑plane failures and network partitions.
• Test and optimise sandboxed workload execution using gVisor, Kata Container and Kubernetes resource pools.
• Build Grafana dashboards and Prometheus metrics for replication lag, proxy latency and failover triggers.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recent graduate of Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals (systemd, networking, permissions).
• Familiarity with Docker container basics and core Kubernetes concepts.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and at least one programming language (Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Strong debugging mindset and methodical documentation approach.
