Senior Specialist: Regional Information Services (RIS Lead)

About the role

The Senior Specialist will lead the Regional Information Services (RIS) unit within ICIMOD, driving the development and delivery of high‑quality digital information products that support climate‑related decision‑making across the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the multidisciplinary RIS team, ensuring timely and integrated delivery of data, tools, and services.
• Oversee the design and implementation of regional datasets, GIS platforms, remote‑sensing applications, and AI‑driven analytics.
• Coordinate with internal units and external partners, including governments and development agencies, to align RIS outputs with policy and investment needs.
• Manage programme budgets, resources, risk mitigation, and performance monitoring.
• Promote knowledge sharing through innovative digital platforms and communication channels.

Required profile

• PhD in Digital Information Services, Data Science, Earth Observation, GIS or related field with ≥10 years experience, or Master’s degree with ≥12 years progressive experience.
• Minimum five years of leadership or people‑management experience in multicultural, multidisciplinary settings.
• Proven track record of leading large, complex programmes, including strategic planning and budgeting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with governments, development partners, and research institutions.
