Operations Manager – Dairy

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our dairy processing plant, overseeing everything from raw milk reception to final product packaging and distribution. Reporting to the General Manager/COO, you will ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective production while maintaining strict food‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end dairy processing operations, including pasteurization, homogenization, standardization, fermentation and packaging.
• Monitor daily output, minimize plant downtime and ensure production schedules are met consistently and cost‑effectively.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or TPM methodologies to reduce waste, energy use and operational costs.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000 and relevant national food‑safety regulations; oversee raw milk and finished‑product testing.
• Maintain a sterile, hygienic environment and lead audit preparations.
• Coordinate with dairy farmers and procurement teams to secure high‑quality raw milk and manage cold‑chain logistics, inventory and finished‑goods storage.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate plant supervisors, technicians and floor workers; enforce OHS standards to achieve a zero‑accident workplace.
• Plan and deliver regular technical and safety training programs for plant staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field (Master’s/MBA a plus).
• 5–8 years of progressive management experience in dairy processing or a closely related liquid‑food manufacturing industry.
• Hands‑on knowledge of dairy machinery such as separators, pasteurizers, homogenizers, aseptic packaging lines and CIP systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP software for production planning and inventory control.
• Experience with plant automation systems (SCADA, PLC).
• Application of Lean, Six Sigma and TPM continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Technical expertise in operating and maintaining dairy processing equipment.
