Radiologist – AI Subject Matter Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking a board‑eligible/board‑certified radiologist to join SME Careers as a remote, hourly contractor. In this AI Subject Matter Expert position you will review and improve AI‑generated radiology responses, create gold‑standard imaging content, and provide detailed feedback that enhances clinical accuracy, safety, and clarity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training material: write detailed prompts and reference answers covering imaging appropriateness, protocol selection, differential diagnosis, and reporting standards.
• Evaluate AI outputs: assess accuracy, safety, and reasoning of generated responses, rank multiple answers, and flag unsafe or biased recommendations.
• Fact‑check clinical and imaging information, identify errors in modality choice, protocol logic, incidental‑finding interpretation, and patient‑safety considerations (contrast, radiation, pregnancy, allergies, renal function).
• Write clear, high‑quality explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct clinical reasoning.
• Collaborate with the data‑services team to continuously improve AI performance and model integrity.

Required profile

• MD or DO (or equivalent) with completed Diagnostic Radiology residency and board eligibility/certification.
• Minimum 5 years of professional radiology experience in academic, community, teleradiology, or subspecialty practice.
• Strong clinical reasoning: translate presentations into imaging strategies and prioritize differentials.
• Deep knowledge of imaging modalities, their trade‑offs, artifacts, and protocol impacts.
• Excellent safety judgment regarding contrast reactions, nephrotoxicity, pregnancy, anticoagulation, and radiation dose.
• Exceptional attention to detail and C1‑level English proficiency.
