Contract Review Subject Matter Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

In this hourly, remote contractor role you will work as a Contract Review Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review AI‑generated contract analyses and drafting outputs, create expert contract content, evaluate reasoning quality, and provide precise written feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content by creating detailed prompts and gold‑standard contract outputs such as issue lists, redlines, negotiation notes, clause rewrites, and playbook guidance.
• Optimize AI performance by evaluating and ranking AI responses to improve correctness, defensibility, clarity, and practical negotiation usefulness.
• Ensure model integrity by testing AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, confidentiality risks, and bias, and validating reliability across contract scenarios.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) or Paralegal/Contracts professional background with substantial contract review experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in contracts (in‑house legal, law firm, procurement, vendor management, legal ops, or contracts management).
• Strong ability to identify and explain contract risk, including liability caps, indemnities, warranties, termination rights, payment risk, and IP ownership/licensing.
• Experience reviewing and redlining commercial agreements such as MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, SaaS/subscription agreements, and vendor/supplier agreements.
• Comfort with privacy and security clauses (confidentiality, data processing, breach notification, audit rights, etc.).
• Excellent attention to detail, C1 English proficiency, and ability to produce clear guidance and gold‑standard redlines for non‑legal audiences.
• Self‑directed, reliable, and able to deliver consistent quality across time zones.

Required skills

• Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools.
• Version control experience.
• Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, legal QA, knowledge management, or template library maintenance.
