Finance Coordinator

About the role

The Finance Coordinator will manage financial accounting, reconciliation, and expense review for multi‑donor funded projects, including US Government‑funded activities and the Flood Response Project. The role ensures strong financial controls, timely reporting, and compliance with donor regulations to support the organization’s mission of helping vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Manage financial operations of response funding, maintaining separate segment accounting for each donor and preventing co‑mixing of restricted funds.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, donor‑specific statements, and variance analyses.
• Conduct regular account reconciliations for bank accounts, advances, receivables, and grant balances.
• Review transactions for compliance with donor requirements, ensuring costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable.
• Oversee partner financial monitoring, including review of reports, audits, and capacity‑building support.
• Provide technical guidance to project managers and partners on multi‑donor budgeting, reporting, and compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Studies or equivalent; professional certifications such as CIMA, CFA, ACCA, CA or CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years progressive experience in finance, accounting or grant financial management within an NGO or donor‑funded environment.
• 2–3 years direct experience managing US Government‑funded grants (e.g., USAID, BHA, CDC).
• Demonstrated experience in donor compliance, partner financial monitoring, and audit support.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Sun Systems, Vision XL, Executive).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using financial reporting tools.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
