Chief Investment Officer (CIO)

About the role

The Investment Company is seeking a visionary Chief Investment Officer to lead its investment strategy and capital allocation. This senior executive will drive sustainable growth through strategic investments, rigorous analysis, and effective portfolio management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's comprehensive investment strategy.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend high‑potential investment opportunities.
• Lead financial modeling, valuation, and detailed investment analysis.
• Conduct commercial, financial, and strategic due diligence.
• Prepare and present investment proposals for management and Board approval.
• Manage investment portfolio performance and monitor project returns.
• Structure project financing and liaise with banks, DFIs, private equity funds, and investors.
• Drive capital‑raising initiatives, including debt and equity financing.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Monitor market trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes.
• Establish investment policies and risk‑management frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate‑governance standards.
• Present investment performance reports to senior management and the Board.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, CA or ACCA are advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in investment management, corporate finance or related fields.
• At least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
• Experience in energy, infrastructure or hydropower investments is preferred.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of Nepal's capital market and regulatory environment.
