Communications Analyst – Kathmandu

About the role

The Communications Analyst will support the UN Women Country Representative in Kathmandu by designing and implementing communication and advocacy strategies that raise the visibility of UN Women’s work among partners, media and the public. Working closely with programme, operations and technical teams, the analyst will ensure that gender perspectives are integrated into all communication activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and execute communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans for the Nepal Country Office.
• Conduct communication needs assessments, analyse requirements and develop proposals that incorporate a gender perspective.
• Integrate communication and advocacy components into project proposals and corporate initiatives.
• Monitor and analyse print and social media coverage, prepare reports and advise on visibility opportunities.
• Coordinate UN Women and UN system campaigns, special events and the production of advocacy materials.
• Develop and disseminate communication products such as briefing notes, press releases, stories, speeches, articles and multimedia content.
• Manage translation, adaptation and distribution of publications and audiovisual materials following HQ and regional guidelines.
• Maintain media relations, update press databases, respond to inquiries, organise press events and draft talking points for senior management.
• Identify and cultivate partnerships with donors, civil society, government and other stakeholders to enhance UN Women’s visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, advocacy or public information, preferably in an international or development context.
• Strong understanding of gender issues and ability to integrate gender perspectives into communication work.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for a range of formats and audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme, operations, technical teams and external partners.
• Experience coordinating media relations, events and campaigns.
