Communications Assistant (SSA L5)

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Communications Assistant at the SSA L5 level to support its mission in Nepal. The role will contribute to the development and dissemination of communication materials that highlight WFP’s humanitarian work and promote its strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting, editing, and translating communication content for internal and external audiences.
• Support the planning and execution of media campaigns, events, and outreach activities.
• Maintain WFP’s social media channels and monitor media coverage.
• Coordinate with partners, donors, and stakeholders to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
• Prepare reports, newsletters, and visual materials as required.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Relevant experience in a communications or media role, preferably within an international or humanitarian organization.
• Strong written and verbal English skills; knowledge of Nepali is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team and adapt to a fast‑changing environment.

Required skills

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content management tools.
