Consultant Pathologist

About the role

The Consultant Pathologist will lead laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic results across multiple specialties. This senior position requires hands‑on expertise in clinical pathology, immunology, and quality assurance while providing mentorship to laboratory staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory workflow for biochemistry, hematology, immunology, immunopathology, and clinical pathology sections.
• Supervise routine and advanced testing, including CBC, coagulation profiles, flow cytometry, immunophenotyping, immunoassays, IFA, immunoblot, and EIA.
• Act as general pathologist when needed, handling histopathology reporting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and molecular pathology consultations.
• Implement and monitor quality control (QC) programs, ensure ISO 15189 compliance, and lead corrective‑preventive actions (CAPA).
• Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory personnel, organizing continuous education programs.
• Serve as primary liaison with referring physicians, delivering clear diagnostic interpretations and recommendations.
• Manage procurement, installation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in pathology and extensive laboratory experience.
• Proven leadership in a multi‑disciplinary laboratory environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory standards and quality management systems.
