About the role
The Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB) seeks an Inclusive Humanitarian Lead to manage a twelve‑month, disability‑inclusive response to the August 2026 Bhote Koshi–Trishuli floods. The role is based at NAB’s central office in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, with regular travel to affected districts.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning, budgeting, implementation and quality assurance of the flood response project.
- Conduct an accessible needs assessment, collect disability‑disaggregated data using Washington Group Questions, and produce the assessment report for NDRRMA and NABP.
- Oversee accessible referrals, individual support, and community‑based psychosocial counselling for persons with disabilities.
- Represent NAB with NDRRMA, local governments, NFDN, OPDs and humanitarian clusters; advocate for disability‑inclusive help desks and an accessible disaster response hotline.
- Deliver orientation on disability‑inclusive disaster risk reduction, the DIDRR manual and accessible IEC materials.
- Ensure compliance with NAB’s safeguarding and PSEAH policies and prepare timely narrative and financial reports.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, disaster risk management, public health, social work or related field (a strong Bachelor’s degree may be considered).
- Minimum five years of experience in humanitarian response, disaster risk reduction or development programming in Nepal, including at least two years in a leadership or project‑management role.
- Demonstrated experience in disability inclusion and working with organizations of persons with disabilities.
- Working knowledge of UNCRPD, Nepal’s disability and disaster risk management legislation.
