L1 Network Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an L1 Network Engineer to handle day‑to‑day physical network tasks. The role focuses on installing, cabling, and basic troubleshooting of LAN/WAN infrastructure while supporting remote engineers with device configuration and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Install and rack‑mount switches, routers, firewalls and related equipment.
• Perform copper and fiber cabling, termination, labeling, patching and documentation.
• Conduct physical connectivity checks and resolve basic Layer 1 issues.
• Maintain rack arrangement, cable management, patch panels and equipment labeling.
• Assist remote engineers with device configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting via console access, port identification and cable tracing.
• Monitor equipment status indicators, link status and alarms.
• Keep accurate records of installations, cabling runs and hardware inventory.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP and VLAN concepts.
• Practical experience with Cat6/Cat6A and fiber‑optic cabling.
• Ability to read simple network diagrams and rack layouts.
• Good documentation and basic troubleshooting skills.
• CCNA or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Prior experience in data‑center or IT‑infrastructure installation is preferred.
