Local Security Assistant – UN Security (Short-term)

About the role

The selected incumbent will be based in Bidur, Nuwakot, Nepal, supporting the implementation of United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) policies and procedures. Reporting to the Multi‑Country Office Security Adviser, the role provides day‑to‑day security coordination, information management and liaison with local authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, verify and communicate security information for the assigned area of responsibility.
• Maintain operational coordination with the Area Security Coordinator and serve as secretary to the Area Security Management Team.
• Liaise with national, provincial and local authorities, including police, military and emergency services.
• Monitor security incidents, trends and provide verified updates to UN sub‑offices and security focal points.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Regional Security Plans and Security Risk Management measures.
• Report security incidents, prepare security reports and conduct security assessments of UN premises, residences and event venues.
• Organise and deliver security training and orientation briefings for newly assigned staff.
• Support emergency preparedness, contingency planning and response activities, including personnel accountability and Warden arrangements.
