Local Security Assistant – UN Security (Short‑term)

About the role

The Local Security Assistant will support the UNDSS Multi‑Country Office Security Adviser in implementing the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) for the assigned area in Bidur, Nuwakot, Nepal. The role involves security information management, risk monitoring and liaison with local authorities, ensuring the safety of UN personnel and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, verify and communicate security information and incident reports to the Security Adviser and UN sub‑offices.
• Maintain day‑to‑day coordination with the Area Security Coordinator and serve as secretary to the Area Security Management Team.
• Monitor security incidents, trends and compliance with Security Risk Management measures.
• Provide security training, orientation briefings and support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Liaise with national, provincial and local authorities, NGOs and UN partners on safety and security matters.
