Plantation & Forestry Officer - Senior Level

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Plantation & Forestry Officer – Senior Level who will oversee and scale the overall project approach, including implementation of agro‑forestry on private land with local smallholder farmers and restoration of degraded public land (community forests) to increase land resilience and reduce land degradation. The role involves managing large‑scale plantation projects, coordinating with communities, and ensuring effective monitoring and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tree project implementation (agro‑forestry and community forests), including design, registration and monitoring.
• Expand existing and develop new agro‑forestry projects across Nepal, locate new community forest or public land for large‑scale restoration (>25 ha).
• Visit project sites for training and monitoring, manage forest guards, and handle geotagging registration in the GI application.
• Assist in proposal writing, fundraising activities and reporting on current organizational projects.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Forestry or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in the forestry sector in Nepal, with experience managing large‑scale plantation projects.
• Practical knowledge of vegetation species and forestry ecosystems in Nepal.
• Willingness to travel for field visits and to set up new projects and partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
• Valid 2‑wheeler driving license and ability to travel long distances by motorbike.
• Experience working with communities and strong connections in the forestry sector.
• Strong proposal writing, project management, reporting and problem‑solving skills.
