About the role
The Public Information Intern will support the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament (UNRCPD) in Kathmandu, Nepal. Working under the supervision of a senior officer, the intern will contribute to the Centre’s communication and outreach activities across its key programmatic areas.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with strategic communications and public outreach initiatives.
- Prepare media and communication products for the Office’s website and social‑media platforms.
- Draft and edit publications such as fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and donor updates.
- Create presentations, outreach materials and visual content to support programme activities.
- Conduct background research on disarmament, arms control and non‑proliferation topics.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, seminars and training events.
- Prepare meeting notes, briefing materials and other supporting documentation.
- Contribute ideas for communication, outreach and design initiatives.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final academic year of a bachelor’s programme (UN Internship eligibility).
- Strong interest in disarmament, arms control and public communication.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
