Software Engineer II (Python & GenAI)

About the role

Verisk is seeking a mid‑level Python Engineer with hands‑on experience in AI and Generative AI to build production‑grade backend systems and integrate LLM capabilities into real products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Build and integrate features powered by Large Language Models and Generative AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI).
• Implement prompt‑engineering strategies, retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines, and agentic workflows.
• Work with vector databases and embeddings (pgvector, FAISS, Pinecone) for search and retrieval use cases.
• Write clean, well‑tested code, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 2.5+ years of professional software development experience with Python as the primary language.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and SQL relational databases.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with version control (Git) in Agile environments.
