Store and Inventory Manager

About the role

The Inventory Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the plant stores, ensuring accurate receipt, storage, issuance and control of materials, spares, consumables and tools. The role is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels, proper documentation and timely availability while minimizing stock‑outs and excess inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Manage receipt, inspection, preservation, labeling, binning and systematic storage of all plant store materials.
• Maintain accurate SAP inventory records, conduct regular physical counts, cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Maintenance and Projects to meet material requirements and monitor critical spares.
• Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices, monitor minimum/maximum/reorder levels and prepare regular inventory MIS reports.
• Identify and manage slow‑moving, obsolete or damaged inventory, including scrap disposal procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field (or diploma with substantial experience).
• 5‑8 years of experience in stores, inventory or warehouse management, preferably in a manufacturing/steel or heavy‑industrial plant.
• Proven ability to lead inventory teams and work in a plant environment.

Required skills

• SAP (inventory management module).
• Advanced MS Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Inventory reconciliation and physical stock verification.
• Knowledge of FIFO/FEFO, material coding and bin management.
• Understanding of audit procedures and documentation control.
