About the role

Woollyfelt is seeking a dedicated Zookeeper to join its Kathmandu team. This full‑time, on‑site position involves daily hands‑on care for a diverse range of species, ensuring their health, safety and well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily animal care, including feeding, cleaning enclosures and monitoring health.
• Observe animal behavior to detect signs of stress or illness and report findings.
• Prepare species‑specific diets and assist with enrichment activities.
• Maintain clean, safe habitats and support social and environmental conditions appropriate for each species.
• Keep accurate records of care activities, health observations and dietary logs.
• Follow all safety and welfare protocols and collaborate with veterinary and management staff.
• Support educational programs, answer visitor questions and participate in habitat improvement projects.

Required profile

• Strong animal‑care skills, including feeding, hygiene and health observation.
• Knowledge of zoology and wildlife concepts to understand species‑specific needs.
• Proficient animal‑handling abilities with a focus on safety and stress minimisation.
• Understanding of animal behavior to recognise normal and abnormal patterns.
• Ability to follow protocols, maintain detailed records and work safely in a hands‑on environment.
• Reliable, physically able to perform manual tasks and comfortable working outdoors.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to ethical animal treatment.
• Previous experience in a zoo, sanctuary, farm or animal facility is preferred; relevant education in zoology, animal science or biology is beneficial.
