Client Accountant – Trading Sector

About the role

Shankar Associates, Chartered Accountants (SACA) is seeking a dynamic Client Accountant to support trading‑business clients. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting, tax compliance, import‑related transactions and financial reporting while ensuring accuracy and regulatory adherence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, record and reconcile all financial transactions, and handle import, inventory and related expense accounting.
• Prepare periodic financial reports and management information as required.
• Prepare and file VAT, TDS and other tax returns within statutory deadlines and coordinate with tax authorities.
• Manage import documentation, TT and LC transactions, and monitor foreign exchange gains/losses.
• Perform vendor, supplier and bank reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring proper documentation.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation and ad‑hoc reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a trading business environment.
• Professional qualification or ongoing studies (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with high attention to detail.
