Community Coordinator

About the role

The Community Coordinator is a full‑time position within All Hands & Hearts, a dynamic nonprofit that supports disaster‑affected communities and helps children return to school. The role builds trusted relationships with communities, leads engagement and capacity‑building initiatives, and works across the project lifecycle to promote sustainable recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Engage community members, local authorities, schools and partner organisations to ensure inclusive participation throughout project design, implementation, monitoring and close‑out.
• Identify community structures, leadership influencers and vulnerable groups through stakeholder mapping and regular field activities.
• Establish and support representative community committees that reflect diverse social groups.
• Facilitate clear, culturally‑sensitive communication between All Hands & Hearts and the community, managing expectations and providing transparency on project objectives and timelines.
• Coordinate participant selection, verification processes and community‑mobiliser activities.
• Deliver participatory training on Disaster Risk Reduction, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Menstrual Hygiene Management, First Aid, Child Rights, safeguarding and environmental awareness.
• Monitor community feedback, learning outcomes and contribute to adaptive management of resilience initiatives.

Required profile

• Not a U.S. citizen; preference given to qualified Nepali nationals.
• Proven experience in community mobilisation, disaster recovery or humanitarian programmes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program, technical and MEAL teams.
• Strong understanding of DRR, WASH, MHM, child protection and environmental awareness concepts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building trust and facilitating inclusive participation.
