Country Representative – Fixed‑Term (P5) in Kathmandu

About the role

The Country Representative leads UN Women’s Nepal Country Office, translating strategic plans into concrete programmes that advance gender equality and women’s empowerment across economic, political and humanitarian domains.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Country Strategic Note in collaboration with government, civil society, donors and UN partners.
• Lead results‑based, rights‑based programming, oversee annual work plans, budgets and monitoring frameworks.
• Establish and maintain a risk management framework, conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with UN Women policies on fraud, anti‑corruption and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse.
• Manage the office’s operational goals, approve high‑risk transactions, oversee audits, and ensure timely recruitment and performance management of staff.
• Represent UN Women in the UN Country Team, contributing to UNCT programming and advocacy for gender equality.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in programme design, implementation and strategic leadership within the UN system or comparable international development environment.
• Proven ability to manage complex budgets, risk frameworks and multi‑stakeholder partnerships.
• Strong knowledge of gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and humanitarian action.
