Finance Associate for Development Project

About the role

The Finance Associate will support financial management of the Khotang RMNCAH Project, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with organisational and donor requirements. The role involves close collaboration with project and field teams across Khotang and Solukhumbu.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete financial records, organizing vouchers, invoices, receipts and supporting documents for audit verification.
• Prepare, review and process payment, journal and bank vouchers, coding entries to approved budget lines.
• Record transactions in the accounting system or Excel‑based ledgers, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
• Update cash and bank books, perform regular reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal management and donor reporting.
• Coordinate bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cheque preparation and online payments.
• Monitor project expenditures against the approved budget and flag variances.
• Ensure compliance with donor guidelines, organisational policies and Nepalese tax regulations.
• Support procurement finance processes by verifying purchase documents and authorising payments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in NGOs or development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in financial documentation, reporting and donor compliance.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software or structured financial tracking tools.
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
